I've been waiting to write this post ever since I got here, as I knew that Asian desserts were going to be something entirely new I would get to try, as I never explore them back home.
Chendol is a cold, sweet dessert native to Southeast Asia. The base of the dessert consists of coconut milk, pictured on the right, and is topped with shaved ice and palm sugar syrup. In addition, the dish contains green rice flour jelly and red mung (or azuki) beans. I ate Chendol at two different hawker centres with my friends.
All across Southeast Asia, chendol is served in different forms, sometimes in a glass, other times in a bowl. I really really enjoyed this dessert, a perfect treat in the hot Singapore weather.
