The most iconic dish in all of Singapore...and it took me 2 months into my trip to even write about it. Oops.

Chicken rice is available on virtually every corner in Singapore...I'd liken its presence to the number of Starbucks locations you see in an American city or suburb. It has quickly become known as the national dish of Singapore and is a delight enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

The meal is pretty simple, but the chicken comes in different varieties. The most common are steamed (not pictured) and roasted (show below), with the steamed being more healthy but less flavorful. Stalls also serve options such as lemon and soya sauce flavored chicken. The chicken can be served with noodles instead of rice, although this is a less popular.

I personally really enjoy eating this dish when I want to eat a quick, simple, and cheap meal. Most plates cost around S$4.00, and I love to mix in the sambal sauce on the side to add some more flavor to the dish.

Some of the stalls in hawker centres have even won Michelin stars for this dish! You haven't really spent time in Singapore if you haven't chicken rice, just saying. :-)
