I totally realize that Din Tai Fung is in no way local to only Singapore, but I needed some way to rave about the food so here it is. This chain was founded in Taiwan and quickly garnered fame for its xiao long bao (steamed pork dumplings), earning it a Michelin star. Now, it is present in numerous countries across the world.

I visited the Din Tai Fung in the Marina Bay Sands mall this past Wednesday. While this restaurant chain also has a location just 10 minutes from my home back in California, I was told by many friends that I would get better value for my money and tastier food in Asia.

Two other friends and I ordered the xiao long bao, vegetarian dumplings, and 3 kinds of noodles.

The vegetarian dumplings (left) and xiao long bao (right) were absolutely amazing, with the outer skin being of the perfect thickness and made with 18 exquisite folds. The dim sum I usually eat in the US usually has a thicker outer layer, making for a dumpling that doesn't melt in your mouth like the ones I ate at Din Tai Fung.

The second part of the meal was the noodles. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles for myself, which is an award-winning dish made with spicy sauce, sesame oil, and peanut powder. These were hands-down some of the best noodles I have ever eaten, although I do wish they came in a bigger portion.

There is no way I am leaving Singapore without visiting Din Tai Fung again at least once (update - this was my go-to fast food place for the entire summer), and this is definitely a place I would take any Singapore visitor to eat at!
